Range Rules for Our Ranges
Part 1
Rules For All Ranges
- Safety first. Safe handling of firearms must be practiced at all times. Eye and hearing protection is required.
- No guests without a guest pass. Every guest needs their own pass. Guest passes are available at the range and cost $10 per person, per visit. Guests must be accompanied by a sponsoring member at all times and follow all range rules.
- Rimfire-only area. Rimfire-only means .17 or .22 caliber, non-centerfire, lower-velocity cartridges. Cartridges that damage reactive targets are prohibited in the rimfire-only range.
- Family membership and supervision. Your family membership allows you, your spouse, and children under 18 (under your supervision) to use association facilities, including the range. Children must be under a member’s control and supervision. Children over 18 must have their own membership. Members must have their membership card with them and show it upon request. Your member code may not be loaned to anyone. Member card only is not proof of membership.
- Firing line use only. The immoveable tables constitute the firing line. Shooting is allowed while on the firing line only. A firearm is “unloaded” when there are no cartridges in the chamber and magazine. Firearms must be unloaded and must not be fired while you are forward of, behind, or away from the firing lines.
- Approved targets only. You may shoot at paper targets on the provided backstops and gongs or reactive targets provided by the association.
- Do not shoot prohibited items. Do not shoot at rocks, trees, shrubs, bottles, cans, or clay birds. No exploding targets. No hunting. No camping.
- No shotguns—ever. SHOTGUNS or SLUG guns of any kind are NOT allowed on the range at any time.
- Prohibited ammunition and firearms use. Armor piercing, steel tipped, tracer, or flare-type ammunition is prohibited. 50 BMG is prohibited. Automatic weapons are prohibited.
- Cease-fire and downrange procedures. Anyone changing targets must notify all shooters and get agreement to a cease fire before going forward of the firing line. All firearms must be unloaded, actions open, and no handling of firearms while anyone is downrange. Everyone must remain behind the red line. Orange/Red lights and/or flags must be on in and displayed. Do not walk behind target frames or the dirt backstop. Turn off lights or stow flags after everyone returns to the firing line, then shooting may resume.
- Paper targets on fiber board only. Attach paper targets to the fiber board and place them well clear of support frames and posts to prevent damage. Don’t shoot directly at supports.
- Backstop requirement. Bullets must impact and become buried in the dirt backstop behind the target supports/posts.
- Hours and gate policy. Shooting hours are daylight to dark. Members will close and lock the gate when entering and leaving.
- Carry in, carry out. Remove your targets, pick up your brass and nearby trash, and dispose of trash at home. No littering and no dumping of anything.
- No alcohol or illegal drugs. Anyone drunk or high will be reported to law enforcement.
- Parking and fire safety. Park in designated parking areas. No open fires. Use caution with cigarettes. Activities by an outside group/club are prohibited.
- Exceptions require approval. Exceptions to any rule must be authorized by the Board of Directors.
- Replacement fee. Lost member card and gate code replacement fee is $10.
- Enforcement. Any violation of these rules could result in suspension and/or termination of membership.
