Our objective is to conserve and perpetuate fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports as high-quality recreational activities in the State of Montana.

Rifle Ranges (100–500 yards)

Work from the 100-yard range up through 200/300/400/500 yards. Please do initial bore-sighting and sight-in on the shorter ranges before using long distance.

22 Reactive Target Area

A rimfire-friendly area for newer and younger shooters. Rimfire only means .17 or .22 caliber, non-centerfire; damaging cartridges are prohibited.

PLAN YOUR RANGE DAY

Know before you go: access, hours, and expectations

The range is located on Highway 12 West on McDonald Pass. Just past mile marker 31, you’ll see a locked gate on the east side of the highway—members use their access code and follow the paved road to the range.
Shooting hours are daylight to dark, and members should manually close and lock the gate when entering and leaving.

Range Notice

SHOTGUNS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THIS RANGE.

Safety first — quick reminders

  • Before going downrange, get agreement for a cease fire; actions open; no handling firearms while anyone is forward of the firing line; use the lights.
  • No guests without a guest pass — $10 per person per visit; guests must be with a sponsoring member.
  • Carry in, carry out — remove targets, pick up brass, and pack out trash.
  • Keep the muzzle and bore well below the top of the dirt backstop.
  • Eye and hearing protection are required.
  • Always use common sense! Be aware and alert at all times.

Wondering How To Join?

Membership applications are available in Helena at Capital Sports, Murdoch’s, and Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Membership is $50 per year (Jan 1–Dec 31) and includes your spouse and immediate family under 18.

2026 codes are now available at those locations.
